The E-library is so far only available by downloading the app on your phone or tablet.

Using the E-library app for the first time requires strong authentication. After that, the app does not require a separate login.

The customer’s right to use the E-library depends on whether their municipality of residence has joined the E-library. If your municipality of residence according to the Finnish Population Information System has not joined the E-library, you cannot use the E-library services. All Anders municipalities have joined the E-library.

  • Sense of place

Art exhibition by Marjaana Hinkka at Kokkola City Library 3-30.5.2024.

My art exhibition describes places that have influenced me in one way or another. Experienced places are felt; they have their own smell, light, sounds, doing, memories, people and animals.

The places that hold the most feeling for me are rural. In spring, the event that evokes the most feelings and activities is lambing. The rural and farming includes work related to the cycle of the year, which embody and are a significant part of the sense of place. But what feeling would the place have without sheep? And what does an empty mental hospital feel like? Or what kind of sense of place makes a home?

The Sense of Place exhibition reflects on places as spaces where the present becomes an inseparable part of earlier events. Past time and events are part of the place, it is impossible to ignore them. In my art exhibition there are small pieces of the sense of place.

The feeling of a place is described as being formed through experiences and using all the senses. Other people, i.e. the social environment, has an important role in forming meaningful place experiences. (Inc. Tuan, Yi-Fu & Hay Robert)
